VA--The Pacers finish a big day 2-0 at the Virginia
Wesleyan College Beach Blast Tournament in Virginia
Beach. Peace first finished off Bates College of Maine
followed by host Virginia Welseyan (9-5, 8-3). The Bobcats
came out strong in the first scoring 4 runs in 4 hits.
The Pacers rounded the batting order in the second scoring
2 runs in 3 singles. Peace held the Bobcats scoreless
until the sixth. Peace secured the win in the fourth
with singles from Kristyn Trogdon (Asheboro, NC/Southwestern
Guilford), Courtney Long (Nakina, NC/South Columbus),
Jessica Hogan (Denton, NC/Southwestern Randolph), and
Joanie Blevins (Thurmond, NC/East Wilkes).
Hogan led Peace with 3 RBIs in her
3 singles. Kasie Moore (Clayton, NC/Clayton) and Kenni
Seagroves (Apex, NC/Apex) each had 2 RBIs. Monette earned
the win from the circle. Bobcat Hannah Dwan recorded
the loss leaving the game in the fifth.
The Pacers faced host Virginia Wesleyan
College for the 4:00pm game Saturday. Just inches from
the top of the fence, Moore doubled in the first to
earn her first 2 RBIs of the game. She homered in the
seventh to finish off the Marlins. Blevins and Long
added doubles to the Pacer push each earning an RBI.
Sophomore pitcher Ashley Stansbury
(Rougemont, NC/Northern Durham held on to the win with
the help of a three-run Pacer push in the top of the
sixth to finish off the Marlins.
Peace hosts Keystone College while
still in Virginia this weekend. Game one begins at Noon
at conference neighbor Christopher Newport University.
At the close of spring break, the
Pacers host Maryville College (TN) on Saturday, March
8. The following Wednesday, March 12, Peace welcomes
two-time Olympic Softball Gold Medalist Michele Smith.
Smith will throw out the first pitch at 1:00pm. See
