-- Peace dropped two games in Thursday's final non-conference
double header versus the Eagles of Bridgewater College
(6-3, 10-4). In game one the Pacers held an early 2-0
lead. Joanie Blevins (Thurmond, NC/East Wilkes) and
Jessica Hogan (Denton, NC/Southwestern Randolph) each
singled and scored on wild pitches. Holly Braswell (Raleigh,
NC/Garner) doubled in the fourth. Her pinch runner Megan
Massengill (Clayton, NC/South Johnston) scored off a
wild pitch to up the lead to 3.
In the top of the sixth, the Eagles
scored 3 runs off 2 hits and 3 Pacer errors to tie the
game and force an extra inning. Bridgewater added 3
runs off 2 hits in the eighth to challenge the Pacers.
Peace could not match the Eagle lead and fell to Bridgewater
in game one.
In game two the Pacer defense struggled
once again allowing Bridgewater to jump out to an early
4-0 lead with 3 hits and 4 Pacer errors. In the second
Kasie Moore (Clayton, NC/Clayton) advanced to first
on a walk and eventually scored on a single from Kenni
Seagroves (Apex, NC/Apex). The Eagles countered with
a double from Drew Rutledge in the fourth who eventually
scored the fifth Eagles run on a single from Kaitlyn
Bowman.
Blevins and K Moore walked in the
fifth and eventually scored to bring the Pacers within
reach. Unfortunately, Bridgewater put the game away
with 5 runs in 5 hits and 1 Pacer error in the sixth.
Ashley Stansbury (Thurmond, NC/Rougemont) homered in
the bottom of the sixth and Monica Champagne singled
(Spring Hope, NC/Southern Nash) but the team could not
rally to reach the Eagle spread.
Peace travels to Rocky Mount Wednesday,
March 26 for a 2:00pm double header versus the Bishops
of NC Wesleyan. The team returns to Wachovia Athletic
Park Saturday the 29th to host the Captains of Christopher
