Peace College Pacers to Host NGWSD Saturday
Raleigh, NC - The Peace College Pacers are slated to host girls from the Raleigh Girls Club in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day Saturday, December 5. This year will be the 24th annual celebration of this national event traditionally held in February.
The Pacer Gameday is one of more than 1,000 events taking place across the country for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Congress proclaimed this national day each year beginning in 1987. This year's theme, Stay Strong, Play On, supports the traditions and efforts of this long standing initiative. The campaign recognizes the progress of girls and women in sports and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women. The Day is organized nationally by the Girl Scouts of the USA, Girls Incorporated, National Association for Girls and Women in Sport, the National Women's Law Center and the Women's Sports Foundation ®.
The campers will learn basketball fundamentals from the Peace basketball squad and coaching staff during a morning clinic. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will treat the girls to lunch on campus along with poster-making and face painting in preparation for the 2:00 pm basketball game versus Christopher Newport University. The fun continues with halftime games and opportunities for prizes.
Join Peace College Saturday as we welcome these future student-athletes on our campus for a fun-filled event. See you on the sidelines!
