The Pride Top Peace

Greensboro, NC - Peace (3-6, 0-4 USAS) maintained even scoring versus Greensboro College (4-6, 2-3 USAS) in the second half but could not recuperate a 17-point first period deficit.  The Pacers lost 67-50 for their second strike of the year.

The hosts jumped out to a quick lead to control the game.  Peace had no answer for GC's Bianca Richburg, this week's USA South rookie of the week, who scored 15 points and tallied half of her game-high 12 rebounds before the intermission.

PC's Candra Hill knocked in a three-pointer to ignite a 9-0 Pacer run that cut the lead to nine with 8:27 remaining in regulation.  Peace continued to battle and maintained the single-digit spread with just over three minutes left but would get no closer.

Senior Pacer LeAnne Horne led the offense with a season-high 17 points, adding three rebounds and three steals.  Hill hit two threes for a six-point total, adding five rebounds in the loss.

Richburg led all with 26 points, 12 rebounds.  Teammate Nikki Wilborn tallied 23 points for The Pride.

Peace hosts Methodist University Thursday, January 7, at the Hermann Center.  The first home game of 2010 is slated for a 7:00 pm tip-off.  See you on the sidelines!
