Peace Soccer Gets First Win

Raleigh, NC-The Peace College soccer team notched its first win this season defeating Mary Baldwin College 10-0 today in Raleigh.  This marked the Pacers first conference action and dropped MBC to 0-3 early in league play.

Peace controlled the offense much of the game recording 49 shots in the win.  Senior Haley Bright (Snow Hill, NC) opened the scoring at 18:22, assisted by Brittany Lynn (Raleigh, NC).  Teammate Harlonda Smith (Huntersville, NC) drove one in the back of the net five minutes later in the first period.  Bright gained control of the ball once more to earn the third point for Peace before the intermission.

Smith notched her second just under 10 minutes into the second period.  First-year Melissa Moran (Raleigh, NC) pegged two back-to-back.  Jennifer Gilbert gave Moran a jump start and earned an assist on the play.

Bright earned a hat trick on another assist from Lynn, and Smith earned hers minutes later.  Karissa Herring (Seven Springs, NC) earned her first goal this season on a breakaway down the middle.

Smith stole the ball from the Fighting Squirrels and pushed the ball to her fourth goal.  Sweeper Courtney Butler (Lewisville, NC) managed her defense to assist Sherry Revels (Apex, NC) at the goal.  Revels recorded two saves for her team in four shots.

Mary Baldwin keeper Erica Gaughan earned 14 saves in the loss.

Peace hosts Shenandoah University tomorrow at WakeMed Soccer Park's field four.  First kick is slated for Noon.  See you on the sidelines!
